Chilli Oil

Chilli Oil

Chilli Oil is a staple condiment in many households, adding a burst of heat and flavor to a variety of dishes. This post is dedicated to sharing the story of our mummy's recipe for chilli oil that has been passed down and perfected over the years.

The process of making chilli oil is quite simple, but the secret to the perfect chilli oil lies in the selection of the best ingredients and the precise control of the heat.

Our mummy's recipe uses only the freshest and highest quality dried chillies, gently cooked in the best quality sunflower oil until they turn a deep red and release all their fragrance.

The result is a rich and flavorful chilli oil that adds heat and depth to dishes like stir-fries, soups and marinades. This oil can be stored for up to 6 months in our sterilized glass bottle in a cool, dark place making it a versatile ingredient to have on hand in your kitchen.

When it comes to using the chilli oil, the possibilities are endless. You can use it as a cooking ingredient, as a finishing oil, or as a dipping sauce. Here are a few of our favourite ways to use chilli oil:

  • Stir-fry: Add a spoonful of chilli-oil to a stir-fry dish to add heat and depth of flavour. This oil pairs especially well with roasted/ grilled vegetables and meats.
  • Soup: Ladle a spoonful of chilli oil into a bowl of soup for an added boost of lingering heat and flavour. The oil works well with both meat and vegetable based soups.
  • Dipping sauce: Mix the chilli oil with a few simple ingredients, such as soya sauce and vinegar, to create a delicious dipping sauce for dumplings and spring rolls.
One of our favourite ways to use our chilli oil is to add it to our classic Hummus and enjoy it with pita bread.
Our mummy's recipe for chilli oil is a timeless classic that has stood the test of time. Whether you're a fan of spicy food or simply looking to add some extra flavour and oomph to your dishes, this chilli oil is sure to become a staple in your household.
